Pitzer College strives to maintain an environment which is free from discrimination and harassment, including sexual harassment and sexual misconduct. Sexual misconduct is a distinct form of sexual harassment. Pitzer College maintains several policies related to discrimination, harassment and sexual misconduct which can be found in the Student Handbook, Faculty Handbook, Staff Handbook, and the Sexual Harassment Policy.
If you believe you have been subject to discrimination, harassment, and/or sexual misconduct by a student, faculty member, or staff member from one of The Claremont Colleges other than Pitzer College, please speak with one of the Title IX Coordinators. Students can also contact the On-Call Dean (contacted through Campus Safety at 909-607-2000) or a Dean in the Dean of Students office. They will assist you in exploring your options for responding to the conduct, provide you with information about support resources, and assist you in reporting the incident to the other institution and/or the police, if you choose to do so. You may also speak with the Pomona College Advocates for Survivors of Sexual Assault, which is a confidential resource for students of The Claremont Colleges. For more information about resources and options for responding to sexual misconduct please visit The Claremont Colleges’ sexual misconduct website.
Creating a safe campus environment is the responsibility of all members of the College community, both individually and collectively. Pitzer College encourages all members of our community to seek support for and report all discrimination and harassment and/or sexual harassment and sexual misconduct directly to Campus Safety or the Title IX Coordinators. In response to any reported discrimination, harassment, and/or sexual misconduct, the College will take all appropriate steps to eliminate the misconduct, prevent its recurrence and address its effects. The College respects the inherent dignity of all individuals involved and will carefully review and/or investigate all reports to understand the perspective and experiences of each individual, and provide for fair and impartial evaluation and resolution.
