First-Years: Important Dates for New Students

Congratulations on your admission to Pitzer College! The Office of Student Affairs is already hard at work preparing for your fall arrival. Please reference the dates below for information about upcoming correspondence and events.

Wednesday, May 21, 2014 – Student Affairs Correspondence

A detailed letter will be sent on this date that will provide your Pitzer e-mail account log-in information, and instructions for submitting time-sensitive forms to the College such as housing placement information, medical insurance verification, Orientation Adventure trip (OA) selection and First Year Seminar information. It will also direct you to the website so you can access information and print out documents pertinent to you.

Monday, June 9th, 2014 – OA Trip Registration Goes Live

The OA Trip Registration Form will be posted online for all new first year students to fill out with their OA trip preferences and other important information that is necessary to place students on trips. Until this date, a list of OA 14 trips are available for your review on the new student orientation website. The deadline for new first year students to fill out the OA Trip Registration Form is Thursday July 3rd. (Transfer and NRS students will be contacted in mid-July about OA trip preferences.)

Thursday, July 10, 2014 – OA Trip Placement Announced

All new first year students will be notified via their Pitzer email address about their OA trip placement and about the specifics of the trip they are placed on.

Friday, July 25, 2014 – Student Affairs Correspondence

An e-mail will be sent to your Pitzer College e-mail account with information about your residence hall placement, roommate assignment, a detailed arrival schedule, and information about completing the required online alcohol education course before arriving on-campus.

Saturday, August 23, 2014 – New Student Orientation

Students will have a few hours to settle into their room and meet their RA, mentor and classmates before the orientation program begins. Student leaders will be available to help you move your belongings to your new room. You will also enjoy an official College welcome from President Trombley and her cabinet, and partake in a delicious lunch on the Mounds. You will be extremely busy this day learning about the College and preparing for your OA trip. OA trips will begin trip preparations after lunch, and will continue after dinner. All trips will officially depart the following morning, Sunday August 24, 2014.

Saturday, August 23, 2014 – Parent Orientation

On Saturday, August 23rd, parents are offered a partial day of orientation activities. Students and parents have simultaneous orientation schedules both designed to highlight the areas of the College that are most pertinent for each group. Both schedules culminate on Saturday evening with an opportunity to say “bye for now” and then the students will continue preparing for their OA trip departure the following morning. Wednesday, August 27, 2014 – Orientation Adventure Trips Return

Thursday, August 28, 2014 – New Student Orientation Continues

New Student Orientation continues with check-in on Thursday morning. Check-in offers the opportunity to provide students with their orientation packet, filled with the complete orientation schedule, and all their advising information. The five days leading up to the first day of classes on Tuesday September 2, 2014 is packed with academic advising meetings to plan your fall course schedule and prepare you for the registration process, as well as lots of opportunities to get to know the different resources and services at Pitzer, and opportunities to spend social time with other new students and student leaders.
