In Virginia, it was once a crime for Mildred and Richard Loving, an interracial couple, to marry. Their fight to end such laws in multiple states led to the 1967 ruling “Loving v. Virginia.” Loving takes an understated approach to telling a painful — and still relevant — real-life tale, with sensitive performances breathing additional life into a superlative historical drama.
Pomona College Professor of Politics Lorn S. Foster will speak about ’60s idealism and social justice before the screening.
